Nominations are now open for our Annual Awards

Coffs Harbour Regional Landcare acknowledges and celebrates the outstanding efforts of individual local Landcare volunteers and groups.

Coffs Harbour Regional Landcare reviewed our annual awards process late last year and has now added an additional award.

This award will be called the Pia Dollmann Conservation and Sustainability Community Award and is designed to recognise and acknowledge individuals, groups, businesses or schools who have made a significant contribution to the conservation or improvement of our local natural environment.

Pia Dollmann, after whom this award is named was one of Coffs Harbour Regional Landcare’s Project Officers for many years. Her knowledge and passion resulted in many positive environmental outcomes for both Coffs Harbour and Bellingen regions. Pia passed away in late 2019 after a short illness and by naming this award in her honour we hope to continue her legacy not only be by promoting environmental awareness but also recognising the dedicated and passionate members of our community who help care for our wonderful local environment.

Examples of eligible activities for this Award are:

  • Natural habitat restoration or enhancement projects e.g. bush regeneration, revegetation
  • Cleaning up our waterways
  • A successful school sustainability project or initiative
  • Community environmental education initiatives
  • Innovative reuse of waste products
  • Proactively reducing chemical & pesticide use on horticultural farms
  • Carrying out citizen science/ monitoring activities
  • Rescue and rehabilitation of wildlife
  • Activities mitigating climate change

All award winners will be presented with an award at an official award ceremony with their stories published on our website.

By publicly recognising all our award recipients we hope to motivate and inspire others in the community to make a positive difference in the Coffs Harbour Region.

Some further changes to the eligibility to nominate for an Award

A CHRL individual volunteer or group is now able to win the award more than once. They must however be nominated on a new achievement, not the same achievements that they had been recognised for in their previous win.

For CHRL volunteers, who also carry out industry related contractor work, their nominations need to focus specifically on acknowledging their volunteering activities and achievements.

We invite all members to submit their 2020 nominations for the following awards:

Dee Wallace Perpetual Award for Excellence by a Landcare Group

2020 Coffs Landcare Dee Wallace Perpetual Award for Excellence by a Landcare Group
