Coffs Harbour Regional Landcare in partnership with Jaliigirr Biodiversity Alliance (JBA) is delivering part of the on-ground component of JBA’s Jaliigirr Koala conservation actions in the Coffs Harbour & North Bellingen Areas of Regional Koala Significance (ARKS) project. Project activities include restoring key koala habitat through weed control and revegetation across 11 sites; koala awareness raising educational events; knowledge sharing and canine scent detection koala scat survey and analysis.

CHRL has been contracted by JBA to carry out bush regeneration within two highly significant koala habitat corridors along Tree Fern Creek and Roberts Hill within the Coffs urban area. 100 trees will also be planted at Roberts Hill to fill in gaps in the habitat corridor. A third site, a council reserve of Bark Hut Rd at Woolgoolga will also have weed control carried out within the remnant bushland where there has been sightings of koala in recent years.

This project received grant funding from the Australian Government through the Koala Community Grants Round 1.
